Why A Church Library?

"Why The Church Library is Relevant" appeared in a 2010 issue of Christianity Today and offered an argument that the church library offered the potential for considerable help to growing Christians in tough economic times.

A viable ministry of a local church library has its focus on supporting the overall mission of the church. It goes beyond a small, elite group who simply love literature or reading. The choices made in creating a resource center to address the needs of families, men, women, and all the myriad issues they face are just as crucial as planning any volunteer mission trip or evangelistic effort into a city center.

Some quotes:
“You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me”
C.S. Lewis

“Prayer is when you talk to God; meditation is when you listen to God.”
Diana Robinson

"A library is not a luxury but one of the necessities of life."
Henry Ward Beecher

“It cannot be that the people should grow in grace unless they give themselves to reading. A reading people will always be a knowing people. ”
John Wesley
